What's the difference between IPTK and Fovea Pro?

Fovea Pro is a professional level package, while IPTK is designed primarily as an educational tool. Fovea Pro contains all the functionality of the IPTK, but adds the ability to process 16 bit images, an enhanced feature measurement suite, more sophisticated automation capabilities, automatic classification (a tool for building expert systems), processing tools for surface range images, and conversion filters.

What platforms do the products support?

All of our products support Windows 98 or better and Mac OS X. Photoshop 5 or newer is required, but Photoshop 7 or newer is strongly recommended. We're still supporting MacOS 9 with Optipix 3, but that will likely change with any future releases.

My serial number doesn't work!

My software has expired. How do I continue using it?

Fovea Pro will function in demo mode for three weeks before it requires a serial number for registration. Please enter your serial number using the IP*Utilities > Register plug-in. If you don't have a serial number, you can contact us and order one.

Are there site licenses available?

Yes. We provide a bulk discount for purchases of 5 or more licenses, as well as a special discount for student laboratories. Please contact us to discuss the discounted rate.

Is there an upgrade price?

All registered customers of Fovea Pro and the IPTK get one free upgrade to a newer version of the software they registered. This means that if you bought and registered Fovea Pro 2, you would receive Fovea Pro 3 for free. Customers wishing to upgrade to Fovea Pro from IPTK are entitled to a $150 discount on their Fovea Pro purchase. There is no upgrade discount for Optipix.

I would like to see a new feature in Fovea Pro.

I get a File Not Found error when I use a plugin.

This is an indication that you have insufficient space on your C: drive for the software to store its temporary files. The easiest way to remedy this is to clear up some space on your C: drive by deleting files or moving them to another drive, such as a second hard drive, a Zip disk, or a CD-R. You may also set the software to use a different drive for its temporary files. The instructions for doing this are located in Appendix 1, on page 203 of the Tutorial PDF on the Fovea Pro and IPTK CDs. The instructions are also located elsewhere in this FAQ.

How do I change where the software stores its temporary files?

On the PC you use the plugin "Filter > IP*Utilities > Preferences" and tell the software where you'd like your temporary files to be placed. You may need administrator access to set this up.

How big an image can I process?

Our software is mainly limited by what Photoshop can process. Fortunately, Photoshop is a robust platform, capable of processing images that are 30000 pixels by 30000 pixels. For Fourier processing in Fovea Pro and the IPTK, 16384 x 16384 pixels is the upper limit. If you need to process larger images than this, we can design a custom system for you. I'm trying to process or measure an image and its not working right. What do I do?
