| From time to time we will post downloadable plugins that are distributed without charge as a demonstration of the power of the image processing capabilities provided in The Image Processing Tool Kit and Fovea Pro software packages. |
| Select Edges A free component of Optipix The Select Edges plugin is a powerful tool for selective processing. You can select edge detail in your image for sharpening with Unsharp Mask without getting halos or switch to the inverse selection and use Gaussian Blur to diminish the background. Download the Macintosh (440 KB stuffit file) or Windows (380 KB zip file) version of the plug-in, along with a PDF file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use. The plug-in can be used with Adobe Photoshop 5.5, 6, 7, or CS for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel Grayscale, RGB, LAB, and CMYK images. |

| Wide Histogram A free component of Optipix Wide Histogram gives an enhanced histogram tool for 16-bit images. The plug-in provides a 512, 768, or 1024 pixel wide histogram, giving between 2 and 4 times the resolution of Photoshop's built-in histogram tool. This is a must if you are interested in the details of the histograms of your 16-bit images. We provide 8 modes for the histogram, including RGB, Red, Green, Blue, Colors, Hue, Saturation, and Luminance. You may download the Macintosh (324 KB stuffit file) or Windows (232 KB zip file) version of the plug-in, along with a PDF file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use. The plug-in can be used with Adobe Photoshop 5.5, 6, 7, or CS for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel RGB and greyscale images, and with many other Photoshop-compatible programs for 8 bit per channel images. |

| Adaptive Equalization A free component of Fovea Pro and The Image Processing Tool Kit Our Adaptive Equalization plugin implements a technique for increasing the local contrast of images by reducing overall dynamic range. It is particularly useful for making small surface marks visible, or revealing detail in shadow areas, while preserving color information. You may download the Macintosh (574 KB Stuffit file) or Windows (498 KB zip file) version of the plug-in, along with an Acrobat (PDF) file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use and shows several examples. The plug-in can be used with Adobe Photoshop 5, 6, 7, or CS and Image Pro Plus 4.2 and 4.5 for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel grayscale, RGB, and LAB color images, and with many other Photoshop-compatible programs for 8 bit per channel images. |

| TabbedText Format A free component of Fovea Pro and The Image Processing Tool Kit TabbedText is a file format plugin for Photoshop. To install the plugin, place the file (TextFormat on the Macintosh, TabbedTextFormat.8bi on the PC) into your File Formats folder in the Photoshop Plug-ins folder. TabbedText works on only one channel. If your image is not either a bitmap or grayscale, then the filter operates on the first channel of the image, i.e. Red in RGB, Cyan in CMYK, Luminance in LAB. The filter always imports in 16 bit mode, but will write either 8 or 16 bit images. If you need to read an 8 bit image, simple use Image->Mode->8 bits/channel in the Photoshop menus to demote the image to 8 bits. You may download the Macintosh (32 KB stuffit file) or Windows (52 KB zip file) version of the plug-in, along with text file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use. The plug-in can be used with Adobe Photoshop 5, 6, 7, or CS for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel grayscale images, and with many other Photoshop-compatible programs for 8 bit per channel images. |

| Custom Filter A free component of Fovea Pro and The Image Processing Tool Kit Our Custom filter is a powerful tool for extending Photoshop's capabilities for applying convolutions. Our Custom plugin includes the following features: - works with all Photoshop-compatible programs
- recordable in Actions
- scrollable preview window
- both 8 and 16 bit per channel grey and RGB images
- works on intensity channel leaving hue and saturation unchanged
- 7x7 array handles larger filters
- accepts real (floating point) numbers for greater precision
- automatic scaling for maximum unclipped contrast
- 17 sample kernels included
- reads Photoshop format files and reads and writes plain ASCII text files (can be created with a spreadsheet or other program as tab-delimited text)
You may download the Macintosh (392 KB stuffit file) or Windows (332 KB zip file) version of the plugin, along with an Acrobat (PDF) file that explains its principles of operation, installation and use and includes several examples. The plugin can be used with Adobe Photoshop 5, 6, 7, or CS and Image Pro Plus 4.2 and 4.5 for both 8 bit per channel and 16 bit per channel grayscale and RGB color images, and with many other Photoshop-compatible programs for 8 bit per channel images. |

| Enter Magnification A free component of Fovea Pro and The Image Processing Tool Kit When the user enters the image magnification (e.g., 1000X), the dpi of the camera or scanner used (e.g., 300 dpi), and the desired length of the calibration bar (in micrometers), the program calculates the length of the bar (reported in pixels). If this is more than 10 pixels and less than the width of the image, the bar is drawn in the lower right hand corner and labelled with the length, using the currently defined foreground and background colors. You may download the Macintosh (60 KB stuffit file) or Windows (48 KB zip file) version of the plugin, along with a readme file that explains how to use it and instructions for installation. |
